Session
Opening

Dear Michael and Mother Spirit: Well, here it is Fall again. The trees are turning, and the leaves are dropping. There’s a little nip in the air–no real teeth yet–just kind-of gumming on us, giving us fair warning of blustery stuff to come. We feel the change. We feel it inside ourselves. These bodies of ours are growing older, and that’s generally something to welcome. But we and our friends, we are growing older. We look around and see all the changes in this country of ours, and then in this whole world of ours–so much change and, it seems, so much violence still, the terrible, terrible things people are doing to each other.

So it’s not always easy to see what you reassure us is happening, a universal–almost cosmic, you might say–evolution that is happening right here whether we can see it or not, and happening right inside us, whether we can feel it or not. But when we sit still for a while and kind-of settle down out of all our business, we can get some inkling of these souls we have. Something is growing here. Something is not repeating itself, but is definitely evolving through all these changes. And so we thank you, once again, for giving us this way to turn inside. It’s also where we find you, and Mother Spirit, and our Father–just your reassuring presences right within us. For all of this we are thankful. Amen.

Lesson

MICHAEL:  Good evening, this is Michael. I certainly want to reassure you, through all these very human changes, that Mother Spirit and I do experience them with you. We know you very directly in kind of a total way that’s hard to explain to you, but you are transparent to us. Your life is part of us, and it’s always our most sincere desire, and our invitation, that you can feel us as much within you, and just welcome us to share your life with you.

At times in the past we’ve called these moments “little mini-meditations.” Take a few minutes out of your day to say, “Hi Mom! Hi Dad! I’m glad you’re here with me. I’m glad I have someone so intimate, so much a part of me to share all this with.” Then you reap that wonderful, wonderful spiritual feeling of humility, of being aware of something so much greater than yourself. It’s this whole surrounding world, this whole surrounding universe that you will be out there exploring some day. You have that cynical expression that “nothing’s free.” Yet, in another way, it’s all free. None of us literally asked to be created before we were. But here we are, presented with all that is. The only limits, the only limits whatsoever in all of this are our own; and it’s another thing to be righteously humble about that. We are in some kind of gigantic encompassing that we will never ever reach the end of. And yet that’s not a threat: that’s a promise.

It’s all up to you. Eternal life is not forced upon anyone. You do have that ultimate choice. You can choose to cease to exist—although even in your deepest, most profound human pain–either physically, mentally, or soulfully–even in the midst of this pain you can still cling on to the reassurance that this will end, that you will have a complete rebirth where the blind can see and the cynical and indifferent ones can begin to feel and appreciate. Isn’t this your most sincere worship? Isn’t this your most sincere acknowledgment of our Father and his creativity?–that there is all this, and there is you. You are even an infinity to yourself in all dimensions–physical and mental, soulful and spiritual, even your own personality. You literally can’t reach down and pick yourself up by your bootstraps. You can’t get a hold on yourself because you’re the very hand reaching. The eye that sees but cannot see itself.

Yet by a kind of . . . oh, what a map reader would call it a back azimuth–taking a bead on something when, shall we say, you don’t know where you are. But way over there you can see a church, and you take a compass bearing on that, and then draw line back from it on your map. You’re somewhere along that line. Similarly, as you go through life and develop a very necessary ego where you have some sense of who you are, and who to present yourself as–out there with the others–you can have a feeling of your personality, your point of view, the way that you yourself, as a spiritual being, are co-creating everything you are aware of. Some philosophies express this as: Thou art that: you are a part of everything you experience. And this is what you share most with our Father. This is how you’re made in his image. His creative spirit is part of you. It makes you a part of everything you experience.

It occasions all the mystery of: what is it then?–that whole world out there surrounding you–everything, everything you experience that is not you? It’s real too. And it has its own independent life. All the trillions of trillions of trillions of all the orders of personal beings: they’re all happening right now. They all have their somewhat independent life. Yet they all depend upon each other for the very meaning and value of being alive. Think of all the folks you know and have known, all these little walking infinities–as we call you—now so much a part of your soul, and so much a part of your future on and on.

Tonight I just wanted to re-emphasize our thankfulness for all of this, for being alive, for having so many folks to interrelate with, and every single one of them another unique living being. So as you walk down a busy sidewalk, and here they come, see if you can do your best to be there for them and for yourself. Be that wonderful, cheerful person that you would so love to meet yourself. Be that for them. It’s tapping into something that, unless you use it, you don’t know it’s there. But this is your personality, this expression you come up with right out of yourself, not only for yourself, but for them. To be there for another: this too is God’s nature, this desire to share your life with others that, in his case, brings out the whole creation.

Closing

So we thank you, Father. We thank you for what is so totally beyond us, so unimaginable–this whole creation. We thank you that it has no end–for this is a promise that neither need we have an end. Amen.
