Thought Adjuster: “The Apostles of Michael were not chosen because they were perfect men. They were not free of defects and weaknesses. They were not selected because of they had any remarkable intellectual or physical capacities. They were not chosen because they had any special talents and they did not have to audition in order to be selected. Michael chose them because — like Him — they were normal and common men of that generation.
“They were chosen because they wanted to be His Apostles. They were in the right place at the right time but they chose to follow Michael. Maybe their initial motives were not entirely spiritual but through their experience of living with the Creator of this universe, day after day, they were spiritually transformed and they gained the necessary experience to create the dynamic faiths that sustained them for the rest of their lives.
“Judas, the traitor, was in no way different from his peers, not physically or intellectually. Just like the others, he had highs and lows in his life, experienced suffering and joy. His ideas of the kingdom were as clear as his partners’ ideas. All of them insisted on associating the spiritual kingdom that Michael proposed with the material human kingdoms they knew well. However, the others learned very quickly to trust their beloved Master and developed enough faith to do His will and follow him on His Path, even when appearances seemed to offer nothing but defeat, humiliation and disgrace.
Judas never wanted to ‘abandon himself’ in order to strive for perfection. His introverted disposition and his tendency to feel apart from his peers made him a loner who never developed the same level of trust for his Master as did the others. This explains how even when Judas witnessed first-hand the sublime example of a life consecrated to the will of God, the hunger in his soul remained, even in the presence of the bread of life.
“It may be possible that not all your ideas are filled with truth. It may be possible that not all your motives are free of selfishness. It may be possible that your beliefs have little in common with the realities of spirit. However, all this is irrelevant. If you feel in your soul the desire to be better and to know your Father in Heaven, this is the only thing needed to produce in your being those changes that will bring you closer to your eternal destiny. It is not important where on your path to perfection you are today. It is more important to keep walking toward that glorious goal because time is not important for our Father and for Him your arrival to the shores of Paradise is already a fact, because when a creature desires something that is the will of the Father, this desire will inevitably become a reality.”
