Session
Opening

ABRAHAM:  I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. I am also with you in your feelings of gratitude. I am amazed when I view Father’s overall plan and how every detail helps us to progress. Father’s family is numerous and yet, He is integrated with each individual. I am humbled in the vastness of the Kingdom and yet, I feel glad to be an important part of it. I meet a great deal of people every day. I am still learning about human behavior. I want to be a better teacher and I can do that by learning and gaining knowledge.

Lesson

ABRAHAM:  At this time on Urantia there is such static in thought. There is such an overload in the minds of mortals. I meet with people that seem overwhelmed by regular living. I have as of late been learning to simplify and to prioritize. As children of God we must all come to a place in our minds that we have a reason to strive to continue moving forward. Those that have somewhat drifted away from the spirit feel lost and without reason to grow, advance and carry on. What is our reason to continue to try to make the most of the mortal life? I can tell you my personal experience in the flesh was all about gaining power and always having control over every situation.

I was immovable in my decisions, somewhat heartless, you could say. I did receive many hardships due to my obstinate decision making. A man needs to be humbled from time to time. Humility is a way to open the ears. It is a new view of options. When individuals seem to be lacking in options, then there is a stifling of the spirit and hopelessness sets in. We are free will creatures and must be able to have options. This is exactly why organized religion fails the individual. In the churches beliefs have already been set and free will is stifled. Many can live with these pre-made decisions, but some feel that inner turmoil that drives them to seek freedom.

MARY:  I am MARY, so good to be with you, my friends. I understand that restlessness of spirit or that drive to seek something more. As a young girl living on my own, making my way however I could, I felt that life was pretty much set before me. As one who would always be scrambling simply to survive, I felt overcome by the ego or animal determination. Opening up the spiritual side of myself was indeed a whole new adventure. Finally, for the first time I could see that as a child of God I had value. I had reason to strive. I had reason to advance. We, together, are like a scenic mountainous valley with trees, flowers, water, soil, sky, sun–each element feeds the next. Each element is needed and important. I found my most joyful times to be talking with people, making them smile and welcoming them to show their true selves.

In this type of ministry I found it easy to carry on, to strive to make things around me better. I was indeed blessed to work side by side with the Master and view His tireless countenance. He was such a wind of fresh energy. He was seemingly unaffected and yet always allowed the spirit to flow to those around Him. Knowing Jesus during His days on earth and even after showed me my place in the universe and how available options were to me. I was not a stifled spirit or a poor girl from a crowded village. It took some time to have any sort of confidence in my ability to open up to the spirit. It was those small experiences with my fellows that taught me the most. It was the small aggravations, the mundane events, the times of uncontrollable laughter and the thoughtful conversations that helped me to see how I played a part in all there is.

Closing

MARY: Remember those everyday events in your life to be observant. Be not quick to act rash, but to go within and ask questions. What is the lesson in that particular event? This week take time to really feel the spirit, the vastness, the freedom and the options we have as children of God. That is all. It is indeed a blessing for Abraham and myself to know you as co-workers, friends, brothers and sisters. Our love goes with you. Until next time, shalom.
