Dialogue
ABRAHAM: I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. It is such an honor to work with you and also be called your friend. I have been able to observe many of you this past month and see how you put your best foot forward. I am so touched to have witnessed you set aside the call of the ego and advise or assist your fellows with the best possible words you can pull from the spirit.
Ego
ABRAHAM: I know that you are each well in understanding of struggle or pain and I can tell how it has trained you to be a better teacher, friend, mother, father, wife, husband, brother, sister. When we are feeling empty of the spirit then we have a tendency to listen to the ego. We crave good feelings. Good feelings help bring meaning to our life. The ego brings temporary good feelings within but they quickly show that it was selfish, not of the spirit and I know you demand real meaning and values to be a part of everyday living.
Free will
MARY: I am MARY. Hello to you, my friends. I also am with gratitude to be a part of this seemingly experimental time. I learn more than I teach and it is due to knowing you, my student/friends. I can see the pain, weakness and struggle of many of today’s Urantian inhabitants. I am quite fascinated to see mortals choose a negative path while some choose the positive. It is difficult to determine what makes a mortal choose the way they do—some that have become embittered by life will carry on negativity throughout their days and their harvest is misery. Many times it takes an upsetting life event to wake them to a new and better way.
You in the Teaching Mission, however, make effort to follow a positive path, not always, but for the most part. With your life-choices we can see that you minister for the sake of the Kingdom, not for personal attention or ego-building. Many times your assistance to others is simply out of the God within you. When you can truly feel the love of God then are you in abundance to help others.
Stillness
Many of my days in service to the Master’s cause were filled with the sick and dying and anyone who had taken care of these individuals know it is far from glamorous. Many times I would lose my way and become bitter over having to serve in this seemingly degrading position. When one gets to this point it is necessary to go away and be with the Spirit and be quiet. Father knows your levels of tolerance. He knows what you desire in your life. He does bring relief even though it may not be as soon as you would hope. I can say when I had served I felt as though I received nothing for my hard work. In my negative attitude
I got more negative occurrences in my daily activities. When I had followed the Master’s recommendation to go off and be alone with Father I could refresh my outlook, attitude and spirit. I could go back to work with enthusiasm. It was healing for the people I served, and it was healing for me. I received love, gratitude and a closeness with Father. I can’t say this positive outlook would last, but I knew what to do to change my attitude.
Experience, Growth
MARY: You each have a great deal of experience in this spiritual education and you know that you handle various life events different than you did 10 or 20 years ago. This is living proof that your willingness to stay the course, fend off the ego’s needs and make effort to travel the positive road has been rewarding. We are not the same people we were. We need not act out in an immature fashion. We need not accolades or promises that a special position awaits us in heaven.
Do you, as mortals, still have fear? Yes. Do you handle it differently? Yes. You have made tremendous strides. As you have experience in this next month to come think about how you may have handled events in your early days and the peace and serenity you feel within now. As we ponder our growth we can think about the Master and His love for us. We stand at the door and knock. He is always welcoming us in.
Because you are people of faith your outlook on the world is a bit different. When you hear of a tragic event you are with certainty that Father is taking care of it. People everywhere are understood. Even though we may not understand them, Father does and He fiercely loves His children.
I have been able in these last few months to travel from group to group and even though the language and culture is different, there is the same desire deep down in all souls. I have renewed enthusiasm that we are on a good path. Even as a planet we are for the most part in sync.
This upcoming month review your spiritual life as a garden and how it has grown and changed. How have you tended to it and allowed good things to grow and not let the negative things to affect the good things. I believe next time we meet, Abraham wants to offer you the chance to ask questions. So next time we may simply have free discussion.
Closing
MARY: That is all for this evening. I thank you and I want you each to know that Abraham and I are close at hand. Feel free to call upon us in your quiet times. We are more than happy to visit and assist. Tonight our love for you is over-flowing. Go in peace. Until next time, shalom.
