“. . . Mercy is a quality of growth . . . There is a great reward of personal satisfaction in being first just, next fair, then patient, then kind . . . True mercy comes only as the beautiful climax to these preceding adjuncts to group understanding, mutual appreciation, fraternal fellowship, spiritual communion, and divine harmony.” [UB 28:6.8]
Thought Adjuster: “The above-statement provides much food for thought. The first point I would like to make is that Mercy is not blind. It is, in fact, thoroughly briefed as to the deficiencies recorded in the spiritual balance sheet of those to whom it is extended. How else could it incorporate the mitigating element of Forgiveness?
“Yes, Mercy is a quality of spiritual growth. Those who harshly retaliate to perceived or real infliction of harm have not the faintest idea about what Mercy is all about.
“It is one of the precious currencies of Spirit. Beings of high integrity manage its trust fund. Its generous dividends are disbursed to bail out those who demonstrate genuine contrition, before placing them on probation.
“From that perspective, you can understand the prerequisite of conducting a fair trial for both the victims and the perpetrators. Mercy is the lead counsel in these proceedings, assisted by Patience and Kindness, who enter their appearance as pro bono co-counsel.
“Once a just verdict is reached, Mercy petitions the Court for clemency—the most loving vote of confidence one could receive from both the Divine and the brotherhood of men. It reaffirms that each soul matters and that the door remains ever open for the ‘forgiven’ to find their rightful place in a welcoming society.”
