Session
Opening

ABRAHAM:  I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. I am with comfort in our family environment. Watching you live your mortal lives brings the Teaching Mission into reality for us as teachers. You work, play, struggle, and have joy. I am inspired to watch you reach for more understanding, more meaning, and value.

Lessons

ABRAHAM:  Mortal traditions are significant in living a balanced life. Throughout the Urantia Book readership it has always appeared that mortal traditions were trifle and for those who exercise not their faith or ability to believe without seeing.

The Roman Catholic Church for example, for many years they have maintained a ceremony on the Sabbath that has helped individuals to reach and find faith within. Yes, they have their religious dress or spiritual garments that have meaning to the overall experience of attending church. There are the well-known prayers and ceremonies that are more than what an outsider might view. The redundant prayers are a mantra to some and this helps them have opening within to the Adjuster. There is communion that creates a feeling of family and community.

I am not always in favor of these traditions but I find that any one that will help mortals to open to the Spirit is helpful. You that have been in this Teaching Mission find your own traditions to be rejuvenating the Spirit and bringing the Kingdom of God down to be within your reach.

When Jesus had worn the flesh He had not looked down upon the traditions of mortals. He had participated and still shown a brighter light on any opening there may be that was a direct line to the Spirit. I am in favor of you bringing the Kingdom of Heaven within your midst. It is for mortals to also live by, not just study, meditate or think about but to live, work and have their being in.

It is a fact that if you find not meaning within some situation, then it is easy to forget about. Christ asks not for you to celebrate His mortal birth, but it brings joy to the hearts and minds of the participants. The celebration is for you and always an exercise to be open to Spirit communication.

The cosmic mind works in a way of a community status. The cosmic mind can address the masses who would perhaps be open to it. Take the moment when the Spirit of Truth was poured upon the people who came to support the cause of Christ. We have done a great deal of work on the individual and that has helped us prepare you for living within the community.

There are so many social circumstances to address and you act from where your foundation is the strongest. For example, say that money is most important. All other decisions you make will be an extension from that foundation. If the spiritual life is your foundation, how will you perceive social aspects within the community, for example, politics? How different are the two belief systems of money and Spirit? What do we do that strengthens the foundations we want to have? If we want our spiritual foundation to strengthen, then do we go shopping? If we are about our jobs is there any thought toward the Spirit?

This is where I believe bringing down the Kingdom of Heaven to be among you—living and working in it, having your social functions that aid in faith. If the Kingdom of Heaven is not real for you, you will toss it by the wayside. If it is out of reach, then why try? It is your responsibility to make real the Spirit. It is your responsibility to open that door to our Brother/Father who leads us into the knowledge and understanding of our Father.

When we ponder the spiritual life, we at times wonder what it will cost. How much will we have to give up? What would we gain should we completely commit to the Spirit? The cosmic mind teaches us that we are a people with a divine destination. It is not you against them. It is not the differences that we should sit in judgment on.

I am reminded of the two small ones that were slain by their father (the Powell children). That was a bell heard throughout the world. The grief felt throughout the many communities was also understood by the Supreme Being that sends us information, through the cosmic mind, to aid us in our understanding of it all. From this horrible tragedy lessons are forthcoming.

This world teeters between the animal and Spirit. We pray that mortals will be open to the new lessons of the Spirit. We would do well to view mortal ceremony on the side of the Spirit—not some ego driven event.

This week we are recommending that there be some reflection of one’s foundation. If you could view your foundation, what would it look like? Is it falling in places? Is it built with materials of the ego or the Spirit? From where do we make our decisions? How do we envision the Kingdom of Heaven in our environment?

Closing

ABRAHAM:  That is all for this evening. Mary sends her regards and will be with us again soon. Know that my love and thoughts are always with you. Go in peace. Until next time, shalom.
