Session
Opening

ABRAHAM:  I am ABRAHAM. Greetings. I am with such a feeling of comfort to be here with you, this branch of our family tree. I can see you each as diligent, hardworking mortals and Kingdom believers. I do understand that sometimes we can see progress as slow, but I can assure you that today’s spiritual lessons are rapid. The Correcting Time will help Urantia to move closer to Light and Life.

Lesson

ABRAHAM:   The spiritual lessons you experience may not be what you expected, but have comfort in the fact that you are learning to be a productive universal citizens. Each of you have varying life experiences that culminate into a rich texture of social fabric that reaches out to people you know. It may be your hardships that make you an attractive source of light. I would say that the decisions you make in various life circumstances also play a part in your movement along the spiritual path.

Last time we spoke about the unforeseen tendencies of the ego and how it makes some points on the path look attractive. As your experience would tell you, these are virtually all snares that bring hard lessons. Many that experience these hard lessons are with tendencies to be in a self-protective shell that hardens their heart. ‘If we are not involved in life, then we avoid the risk,’ is the common thought of these individuals. I can say that many who strive not for spiritual ideals are attracted to the empty promises of the ego.

As each child experiences growing pains, there are behaviors learned to self-protect or to find a place of acceptance. Adults can go on to continue to mimic these behaviors, therefore bringing the hard lessons and perhaps making bad decisions. These lessons are not all spiritually orchestrated, but Father does call to you during these times. He is never far away and always longs for you to call upon Him, especially it tumultuous circumstances.

Our First Source and Center has foreknowledge of your experience and He creates the lesson He would like you to learn from these hardships. He brings out an ultimate good. Our challenge as mortals is to go past what the animal desires, what the flesh wants, what the mind craves to a light that surpasses ordinary understanding.

MARY:  I am MARY. I am with joy to look upon your faces once more. I am always amazed by the effort you make, each one of you, everyday to remain positive and open to new lessons. I can relate to Abraham’s lesson this evening through my own experience of having attraction to heeding the ego, which led to poor decision making.

I practically grew up alone and raise myself with little or poor guidance. I had always the craving for attention, to be accepted and feel I was belonging to someone or something. In my late adolescent years I had a person who promised to care for me and my longing for temporary ego satisfaction took the path that would have been the easiest. I would drop my cares of the world and allow someone else to bare the burden of everyday living.

I had made the decision to opt out of experience and I had not joy or misery. I had nothing. I had emptiness. I grew to have resentments which were again imaginings of the ego and again I sought escape. I can tell you that I have spent a long time in search of a place to belong or something meaningful that fed my soul. With the experience of the Master’s teachings I learned what hard work was and that escape will bring emptiness.

Being a part of the Master’s plan showed me that self-forgetfulness (3:5.13) is an important quality to strive for in maturing spiritually. Jesus always seemed so full of energy and was many times busy with the masses and did not have thought for how tired He was. You can even see in His experience, half the time He forgot about feeding the material body. He was busy and always about the Father’s business.

I had also become quite compassionate for the individuals I began to work with and felt a connection to Father that I had not before. The temptations of the ego had decreased and I felt a new empowerment. All along I had an acceptance and belonging. I did not know. It was experience and spiritual growth that had brought me Father’s map. He orchestrated my lessons in such a way that I could move forward along the path of spiritual maturity. I was with the realization that the closer I was to Father, the smaller my ego obstacles were. I felt driven to fully live and dive into life with the comfort of knowing that Father brings about an ultimate good.

The focus of our lesson for the weeks ahead will be making needed behavioral changes. Think about how the ego promises a temporary satisfaction, yet in the long run, you have nothing. With Father you have the map for eternal living. The Correcting Time is so busy and you are needed. Have comfort in the fact that you are supported by universe helpers, as well as the First Source and Center. You are with gifts and talent and can help to bring about positive change.

Closing

MARY:  That is all for this evening. Know that Abraham and I send you with our continuing love and acceptance. Go in peace. Until next time, shalom.
